Preparing For Your Visit

Sometimes special preparation is required to improve the accuracy of a test. This may involve fasting (not eating any or certain foods) for several hours or even overnight, drinking more or less water than usual, or avoiding certain medications or vitamin and herbal supplements before the test. If you are delivering a specimen to the lab, there might be special instructions for transporting the specimen. Your physician should provide you with instructions for preparing for your test(s).

If you have any questions about preparing for your visit to the laboratory please contact us at (951) 658-1400.

Visiting the Laboratory

Mountain View Medical Laboratory strives to provide a positive and caring experience when visiting the laboratory. Generally your visit to the laboratory should be less than 30 minutes with our busiest hours being from opening until 10:00 am. Due to the short visit times we operate on a first come first serve basis so appointments are not necessary.

When visiting Mountain View Medical Laboratory you should bring the following information with you

  • The Mountain View Medical Laboratory or other test request slip from a health care professional requesting laboratory testing
  • A current insurance identification card (Medicare, Private Insurance )
  • A photo ID (for example, a driver's license or employee identification badge)
  • A health spending account card, credit card, or debit card

Test Results

Mountain View Medical Laboratory is a full service diagnostic testing facility. We perform 80% of the tests ordered at our Hemet laboratory. For most tests, the results should be available to your doctor the same day as your visit to the laboratory. However, depending on the complexity of the test being performed, it could take several days before your results are reported to your doctor.

Once your physician receives the results from our laboratory a member of his or her office staff will contact you regarding your test results. Due to California health care regulations Mountain View Medical Laboratory cannot report laboratory results directly to the patient.
